Toshiba Ceramics Shifts from In-house Companies System to
Business Group Structure

Toshiba Ceramics, as a material and parts manufacturer, actively pursues changes to better execute its unique growth strategies, making efficient use of assets and integrating and fusing technologies across the organization, under the basic concept of "Materials Network Creates the Future."

As part of these activities, the Company reviewed the organization and made a drastic shift from an in-house companies system to a broader two business group structure, "Ceramics" and "Silicon", coupled with the establishment of the "Business Development Group", that administers all the technologies of the Company and is responsible for both technological strategies and creation of new businesses, the "Corporate Staff Group", that copes with higher demands and provides efficiency by integrating individual corporate staff groups, etc., as of April 1, 2006.

Under the new organization, the Company sets itself the challenge to develop the two basic materials, ceramics and silicon, into more valuable and unique materials and parts, and to transform into a leading-edge "Materials Network Company".
